GAME: Captain's Coming
There are a few different versions of this game. I found some good instructions for this game on Falling Upward's VOX blog. Other leaders have told me that a variation called Flies and one called Beans in a Can are also good.
In Flies, the joeys are flies and the four points of the compass are places flies like to congregate (eg a barbecue). At least one of the actions should be 'Mortein' where the joeys lay on the floor with their arms and legs in the air - just like dying flies.

Beans in a Can is a variation where all the joeys are beans of varying descriptions. 'Beans in a Can' is the command for all joeys to move to the middle of the room where two adults will be standing with their arms forming the outside of a can.
GAME: Fishing
Equipment needed - paper cut outs of fish with paperclips on the end, words can be written on these to symbolise Scouting qualities. A long stick or tube with a magnet on the end of a string attached to it.
Instructions - get the joeys to 'fish' with the magnetic fishing rod, and ask them to read out each of the qualities.
GAME: Cops and Robbers
(This one was requested especially by one of the joeys)
A 'cop' is nominated and is led out of the room. A joey is selected (silently) to be the robber. The cop has 3 guesses to catch the robber. If they guess correctly, they get another go. If not, then the robber gets to be the cop.
We didn't have enough time to do it exactly like that, so we gave each joey a turn to be the robber.
STORY: Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler
This is a great story book written by the same author as The Gruffalo. (..and the joeys love it!)
